Tiger Cubs - Costa Mesa PD Visit
Tonight, our Cubs had a great "Go See It" opportunity when we took a tour of the Costa Mesa Police Department. Our tour guide was a Patrol Officer named Officer Matt. He was an excellent guide!
We started off in the lobby, where we met the officer behind the front desk, she explained her duties. She has worked at CMPD for 14 years!
We were able to go through the detective's offices. We met Detective Fine who explained his job duties and then took us outside to give us a taser gun demonstration.
We toured the rooms where they hold evidence.
And checked out the holding cells.
Officer Matt gave us a good look at a Police car inside and out, and gave us a demonstration of how the lights work...
He even turned on the siren....the boys had to plug their ears!
This is where they bring people who have been arrested to be booked. They keep the Grinch here...because he stole Christmas....and stealing is a crime!
We even got to check out the third level where the Chief and Captains all have their offices. You can look over the records room that had rows and rows of reports!
At the end of our tour, our cubs (and their parents) were tuckered out. Officer Matt said we were the best Scout group he's ever had. We thought he was the best tour guide ever and gave him a big Tiger Cub Thanks!
What a truly amazing night. We are so lucky that Officer Matt was able to take the time to share with us things that most people don't normally get to see. Thanks to him, our Scouts learned about the law and how our Police Department works around the clock to keep citizens safe.
Thanks again, Officer Matt! We appreciate all that you do!
